Final word on blackface from me. Every other person to ask me is going to get a link to this post, I’m done saying this. I’ve said it enough.
1. You don’t need to paint yourself brown when cosplaying a Black character if you are not Black.
2. Painting yourself brown will not make your cosplay ‘more accurate’—you’re still not Black after you paint yourself.
3. Black people come in all shades—right now I guarantee you that there is a Black person lighter than you, wondering why some folks think we are all Crayola brown.
4. My skin color is not a costume. It is something that has been used by racists to hurt me & discriminate against me. You don’t get to wear it for a day and then wash it off without consequences.
